Where does the boat go?
Our operating area is any navigable water between the Golden Gate Bridge and the Benecia-Martinez Bridge. That covers the waters of San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay, Richardson Bay, Angel Island, Alcatraz, Treasure Island, and Alameda. Within that area, your party is free to pick your own route or destination. If you can't decide or don't know the San Francisco Bay area well, your captain will be happy to chart a course based on your preferences and interests.
How many people can come?
A maximum of six passengers are permitted aboard. This is not only the comfortable limit; it is also the legal limit for this vessel as determined by the US Coast Guard. Sorry, no exceptions can be made to this limit.
Do you do offer ash scattering services?
No, we do not. For ash scattering please contact Neptune Memorials 650-492-0681.
Do you do fishing charters?
No, we do not.
For fishing charters please contact Emeryville Sportfishing
Food and beverages?
Your party is welcome to bring any food and beverage they wish. The boat has a propane grill, basic grilling utensils, and two ice chests for your use. We do not provide, prepare, or serve any food or beverage, so be ready to run your own picnic.
Your party is welcome to bring your own wine, beer, or other spirits, provided that you agree to do so responsibly. Boating has inherent risks that are increased when alcohol is involved.
Well behaved dogs are also welcome. For safety and sanity purposes, the limit is two dogs. We strongly recommend that you bring lifevests for your dogs. Sorry, no other animals are allowed without prior agreement. If you plan to bring your dogs, please let us know when making your reservation.
What are the physical requirements?
Safe boating requires passengers to be in good physical condition, have good balance, and have full use of their hands, feet, knees, back, and other body parts. This boat is not recommended for people with sensitive mental or physical health conditions.
Will I get "sea sick?"
The San Francisco Bay often has rough water conditions, and Barbary Ghost is a relatively small boat. Even people in good condition sometimes feel nausea or "sea sickness". We can provide ginger gum to fight nausea, but it is not a complete solution. If you're very concerned about sea sickness, we recommend you experience the bay on one of the area's large ferry lines.
